SCJH PTSO Welcomes the New President and Chairman of the  SCJH Board of Directors, Mr. John Rivera

During the February PTSO meeting we had the opportunity and the pleasure to meet the new President and Chairman of the Sebastain Charter Junior High School Board,  Mr.John Rivera.   Mr. Rivera shared his enthusiasm and optimism for our schools' future.  He welcomed our input as he personally walked through the crowd and gave his business card to all who attended.

If you would like to contact Mr. Rivera or any board member please see the updated contact list under  "Board Members" from the "About Us" drop down box.

 Smart Board's at SCJH

Classroom technology has come a long way from the old fashioned "blackboards and chalk" to the widely used "white boards and dry erase markers" to the latest interactive tool known as the "Smart Board."

The Smart Board allows the teacher to put the computer screen on a full size white board for the class to see. The board is interactive and allows the teacher and students to access the programs capabilities, i.e. drop down boxes, by simply touching the screen. Using this latest technology in the classroom can have tremendous benefits for students. As you can imagine, these new boards are not  inexpensive. Thanks to a grant from the Education Foundation of Indian River County SCJH has been able to purchase and install our first Smart Board in the science classroom.  A second Smart Board was donated by Sebastian Elementary.  We are working toward the goal of having a Smart Board in every classroom.

If you would like to contribute to this program or would like more information about it so you can make a decision about a donation, please contact SCJH at 388-8838.

Our sincerest thanks go to the  following companies who have invested in our students by contibuting to SCJH's Smart Board Program:

·         RBC

·         Sebastian River Junior Woman's Club, Inc

LIGHTNING AND THUNDERBOLT !

 "Thank You"
to all the fine folks at the
Space Coast Credit Union
and the
Thunderbolt Storm Detector Co.

SCJH has been gifted with a necessary (and very cool) piece of technology. The Thunderbolt Storm Detector is a device that indicates when there is lightning approaching before it becomes an immediate threat. This state-of-the-art safety device is hand-held, lightweight, and portable. It can be utilized on P.E. days and any time we have outdoor activities and functions. We're all aware of the fierce lightning we experience in our area. The Thunderbolt is an invaluable tool that will help keep everyone safe while on school grounds.

The Thunderbolt Co. offered the unit at a discounted price and the Space Coast Credit Union donated the entire amount of the purchase price.

Thank You for your generosity Thunderbolt Co.
and
Thank You Space Coast Credit Union for your continual support each year.

Welcome to the New Sebastian Charter Junior High School Website

The goal of this site is to give parents and students the tools they need to stay informed and involved.  The home page will be periodically updated with announcements, news and events. The left hand side of the home page has our Calendar and links to Important school Information. The top tool bar has a feature called "Teachers Pages" which contains information on homework, due dates, projects and reports.  The new site is a work in progress so please be patient while we master our new publishing skills.
